KEYNOTE: Dr. Beau Lotto

Lab of Misfits

Dr Beau Lotto is the Founder and CEO of Lab of Misfits, the world’s first neuro-design studio. Uncertainty and the brain’s need to resolve it is essential for thinking about not only branding and business, but design, leadership and innovation. Misfits is a team of scientists, designers and producers who discover the essential questions about the nature of uncertainty. Their work provides a deeper, scientific basis for an organisations DNA & Strategy, creates content that expands PR & marketing potential, and strengthens its internal and external relationships. By focusing on how the perceptual brain resolves the fundamental challenge of uncertainty, The Lab of Misfits gives audiences and clients the opportunity to create … and more than this … to embody innovation. KEYNOTE: Mat Colmer

Specialist in Digital Transformation in the Built Environment

Mat Colmer is an expert in advancements that shape our urban and built environments. He has a particular interest in how new processes, data and technology can tackle the challenges of compromised performance, low productivity and supply chain complexity that blight the AECO sector. His particular experiences are in the potential of emerging new technology - sensor tech, IoT, new communications networks, remote surveying, immersive technology, distributed ledger technologies - and the associated skills and behaviours required to deliver the changes needed for our future construction industry.

Mat operates as an independent consultant and undertakes several specialist roles with within the innovation sector in the UK. He is the built environment specialist for Digital Catapult, an executive director for Process Innovation Forum and a project assessor and mentor for Innovate UK.
Previously Mat was Innovation Lead for Innovate UK delivering their portfolio of building performance activities and Head of Technology at the Energy Saving Trust, spearheading field trials on low and zero carbon technologies. Mat also has undertaken specialist consultancy roles with Future Cities Catapult, Oxford Brookes University, Revo and Zero Carbon Hub.

KEYNOTE: Frank Weiss


Frank Weiss is based in Berlin. He is a Co-Founder of conject where he focused on product strategy and business development. In this time he worked and lived in Munich, Dubai, UAE, and St. Petersburg, Russia. In Aconex, which acquired conject in 2016, he served as VP for BIM Strategy and Development globally. Today in Oracle Frank Weiss is heading the global strategy for BIM & Innovation for the CEGBU - Construction Engineering Global Business Unit.
He is a very curious and active person. He is internationally acknowledged as BIM expert and speaker. In his free time he likes running, yoga and bouldering which are great preparations for his hiking tours on holiday. Frank is married and has four grown children.

Sol Amour


Sol holds both a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and a Masters of Architecture from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He has experience in a diverse range of fields ranging from construction through landscaping, industrial design and architecture. He has focused his career on education and a technical understanding of complex problems, tempered by carefully considered holistic design. Most of his career has been set within multidisciplinary firms, working on large scale commercial projects, where his focus has been upon communication, clarity and effectiveness between all parties involved - all while delivering outstanding bespoke design solutions.

He now works at designtech in London, exploring diverse fields inclusive of automation, parametric design, form finding, generative and iterative design, software augmentation and creation and coal-face project work.

Sonny Andalis

AECOM Singapore

Sonny Andalis is the BIM Manager for AECOM Transport Division. He is registered civil engineer in the Philippines with a professional focus in Transport Engineering and BIM. He is also a registered ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer and Structural Engineering Specialist. He has 15 years combined experience in government service, rail & airport engineering and has work for Building Construction Authority, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and CPGairport respectively. He has written technical papers on BIM interoperability and GIS integration; regulations for both BIM for buildings and infrastructure and BIM for Structural Engineers. He has participated in the Virtual Singapore (VSG) project, Underground Geospatial Information Management (UGIM) and several National Research Foundation projects funded research projects in collaboration with National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.

Frederic Beaupere

Frederic Beaupere is an architect working at Herzog de Meuron since 2012.There he joined the Digital Technologies Group team, where he works as a BIM Manager. Beside the usual tasks like setup, training and support, he enjoys helping teams with pyRevit scripts on all kinds of tasks, that he creates with RevitPythonShell. Before joining HdM in Basel, Switzerland, he worked at various offices in Hamburg and Berlin like Laura Jahnke Architekten, Zaha Hadid and Barkow Leibinger, after his diploma at TU Kaiserslautern 2007. He enjoys writing Python both at work and at home.

Scott Beazley

Mitchell Brandtman

Scott Beazley is Mitchell Brandtman's dedicated 5D Digital Technologies Manager. He, an architect by background, applies his knowledge of Revit, ArchiCAD and Solibri Model Checker to check and validate models received from other consultants for quantification by Quantity Surveyors. This involves the interrogation of model structure, model objects and their properties to suit project requirements. Scott has presented at a RTC & BILT in Australia, Asia, North America and Europe. He had been a member of buildingSMART for over 10 years, works with IFC's, has taught CAD and BIM in technical colleges and universities, and was a BrisBIM committee member. He also currently works as a Senior Research Fellow at the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre at the University of Wollongong.

Raghavendra Bhat


Raghavendra Bhat is a BIM Leader at Stantec Pune office, providing integrated project delivery expertise utilizing Autodesk software. Bhat has over 12 years of professional experience working in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry using BIM technology on a wide variety of international and local projects (for example, federal government, public works, wet infrastructure, and skyscrapers). Bhat has also mentored, trained, developed standard guidelines and project standard templates. Coordinate with a global team to support mainly the Water Delivery Group including developing communications, comparing methods, and collaborating towards common growth and integration of BIM globally.

Jens Kristian Birkmose


Jens Kristian is a Structural engineer and CADD/BIM/VDC Process Specialist at COWI, a Danish based worldwide engineering company.
Works with optimizing use of Revit and other Autodesk products through content, standards and software development.
Part of a team designed to formalize workflow and processes to increase project efficiency and profitability. Working directly with IT department to coordinate hardware and network systems resources with software end users' experience.
Involved in the development, setup and use of private VDI and HPC cloud systems.

Marzia Bolpagni


Marzia is a BIM Advisor at Mace in London where she develops and implements digital construction solutions for international clients. She is also a PhD Candidate at Politecnico di Milano where she is finalising a thesis on ways of managing and controlling public works through innovative digital approaches. She collaborated with two advanced BIM-aware public clients: the Massachusetts Port Authority (USA) and the UK Ministry of Justice. In 2017 the Italian Engineer Association assigned her the 'Woman Ingenious' award for her work on BIM at international level. She is keen on knowledge sharing and passionate about her work. She is glad to be a member of BIM Excellence Initiative, Assistant Editor and Italian Language Editor of the BIM Dictionary, member of the Italian Organization for Standardization (UNI), UK BIM Alliance and European Committee for Standardization (CEN) TC 442 where she chairs a Task Group on LOD standardisation.

Artur Braun

Artur Braun is a new member in the BILT family – during his studies at Walter Gropius Berufkolleg and Hochschule Bochum in Germany where he was awarded with a master degree in constructive engineering he already had the chance to collect a wide range of professional experience in the field at diverse engineering companies such as C.Bruder Architekt, Brandschutzbüro Bochum, Kaiser Ingenieure, HEG Beratende Ingenieure as well as H+E Logistik GmbH.
His focus there was firmly set on structural engineering for residential as well as infrastructural projects. Additionally to this, it exposed him to the opportunity to collect practical knowledge on fire safety in engineering.
After graduating he joined Stangenberg und Partner Ingenieur GmbH in Bochum – again the focus lay on structural engineering utilizing BIM, with a special spotlight on power infrastructure and rebar design.
He is now with iMM Gmbh in Bochum on the same premises of his previous employer Stangenberg und Partner Ingenieur GmbH. Here he is spearheading the integral utilization of BIM in structural engineering, from early design models to construction documentation as well as rebar design in BIM.
Artur has a wide knowledge of practical utilization of diverse software platforms ranging from Revit to Sofistik to Dlubal. Apart of that he has working knowledge of programming platforms such as Python and Java which was reflected in his masters work at Hochschule Bochum.
Artur is married and keen to tackle the professional challenges that lie in front of all of us.

Kristian Bursell

For 18 years Kristian has been responsible for furthering automated results from virtual building models. In 2008, after 8 years in the industry, Kristian started CADSWIFT as a BIM implementation, management and process expert. He assisted several major Architecture firms within Australia before eventually deciding to minimize his implementation, training and support roles. The purpose was to allow him to focus on the potentials for intelligent BIM content for ARCHICAD. Kristian has been regarded, for some time, as one of the world’s foremost experts in ARCHICAD's content creation language - GDL. He creates the most advanced content for manufacturer’s products as well as highly intelligent and parametric content for architects. Kristian's main focus is on what he calls Dynamic and Intelligent BIM Content. This refers to highly parametric content which encompasses all possible variables and can leverage external data.

Allan Cantos

Allan Cantos was a consistent class top-notcher during his secondary years and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines in 2000. He is well experience in drafting from any stages of design. He began his Revit Structure experience with Arup as Structural Technician in 2008 where he worked for almost 7 years and been involved in various projects such as tall buildings, commercial buildings, airports and refurbishments.

He worked in different countries such Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Dubai for number of years and has moved in London in 2015 to join Ramboll UK Ltd. as Senior Structural Technician.

He is also an Autodesk Certified AutoCAD and Revit Structure Professional.

He has developed a Revit structural data mining workflow using Dynamo and present this information interactively using Power BI for office use which became a significant time-saver in extracting information out of Revit model.

Last month, he successfully earned his Engineering Technician Membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers and was also one of the speaker in the BiLT Asia 2018; both were new milestones in his career that he will never forget.

Dan Chasteen

A Digital Practice Manager at Perkins+Will Dan Chasteen is part of a small formalized technology team known as Digital Practice, responsible for vision, strategy, policy, resources and direction for the use of the technologies that support the interdisciplinary practice of a global architecture firm. Dan also develops digital strategies for key projects and advises design teams on the latest innovative processes and technology. While at Perkins+Will Dan has contributed vision, teamwork and leadership to deliver more than a dozen major innovations helping to differentiate the firm. Dan is the former owner of Digital Construction Studio and an IT consulting service. He holds dual degrees in Environmental Design and Building Science from Auburn University.

Nis Boile Christensen

I work with Facility Management with focus on advising building owners how to optimize their operation and maintenance and space management.

What i do, derives from my education in Architectural Technology and Construction Management, backed up with the degree cand.scient.techn in Building Informatics (BIM). Through my education and working experience i have obtained a broad and solid understanding of the connection between Theory and Practise within the uses of BIM in the Danish and International building industry with an added focus on Facility Management.

My focus is put into the use of ICT in the building lifecycle, with focus on harvesting the low hanging fruits as a direct outcome of the ICT requirements and process involved.

Kelly Cone


I am passionate about process and technology innovation and how they can change industries and people's lives. I have implemented various practice technologies into design, estimating, and construction teams and workflows; worked on amazing projects such as the SaRang Global Ministry center in Seoul as a designer, and Renzo Piano's addition to the Louis Kahn Kimbell Art Museum as a contractor; and have had the privilege of growing and leading one of the most talented VDC & Process Innovation teams in the industry. Those experiences have taught me there is a better way to create our built environment, and I want to make that way become a reality. At ClearEdge3D I guide development of the tools necessary for design and construction firms to get the most out of reality capture within the AEC industry, with the goal of closing the gap between the virtual and real world.

Francisco Contreras


Francisco is a chilean architect, BIM specialist and Revit application developer for his company CTI. He created Hanger Generator 2, a Revit application that automates the creation of hangers in MEP elements, which is available in Autodesk AppStore and is currently being used in more than 20 countries. He has 10 years of experience using BIM for almost every possible use, including the coordination of more than 850.000 m2 in all disciplines of building. In 2012 he was the sub-director of the project that created the first BIM standard in Chile. He also has taught Revit in several universities and private companies. Currently he also works for Constructora Moller & Perez Cotapos as the BIM coordinator of an important hospital project in Chile.

Mike Coombe

Mike has been working with Revit and BIM for the last 10 years. Starting as a structural technician with Niras and working on a broard range of Revit projects throughout his time there. He now works as a BIM manager with a passion for all things BIM. Focus has now shifted to the development and implementation of new workflows and technologies to improve the quality of models and flow of data between the software’s used by large interdisciplinary company.

Thomas Corrie

Hopkins Architects Partnership LLP

Thomas Corrie is an Associate Partner at Hopkins Architects in London. He studied architecture at the University of Sheffield and joined Hopkins in 2006 to work on Kroon Hall at Yale University. Thomas was then an integral part of the design team for the London 2012 Velodrome where he first started developing his skills in parametric modelling. Subsequent projects include a new concert hall at Bryanston School and the initial stages of a new 5* hotel on Hyde Park Corner. Since 2015 Thomas has been the full-time Head of BIM for the practice, working on a wide range and scale of buildings. He is interested in complex geometry, data, mapping, scripting—and in his spare time he cycles, sketches and photographs blind windows.

Martin Coyne

Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates

Martin has been the BIM Manager for KPF’s London office since 2013, working as part of a global team to push use of technology and BIM methodologies alongside developing and maintaining practice standards.

Martin’s background is as an architect, with a particular focus on large-scale project such as airports and commercial/residential towers. From being lucky enough to get a taste for using Revit in 2003, a passion for smarter working methods has driven his journey towards overseeing the digital practices for some of the largest projects around. He has taken the opportunity over the past few years to focus on pushing BIM implementation within firms and leading the development of BIM workflows, methodologies and documentation.

In addition to his daily role, Martin is also a regular guest lecturer on the BIMM MSc course at Middlesex University, and is a co-founder and committee member of the UK Dynamo User Group.

Martijn de Riet


Martijn has a degree in building engineering since 2004. His career has been centered on Information Management. Martijn started his career as self-employed BIM engineer and became a well-known Revit expert. In 2015 Martijn co-founded Bimforce, a company aiming to improve communication in the BIM process.
Martijn helped over twenty-five companies implementing BIM workflows and worked as an external BIM Manager on large and complex construction projects, including laboratories, schools, government and research facilities.
Martijn has a history of standard development and a longstanding interest in Open BIM and Open Data workflows. He is main author of the Dutch Revit Standards, and seats in the Technical Committee for the Revit Standards Foundation. Martijn has been Chairman for buildingSMART Benelux from 2015 to 2017, wrote several publications on IFC workflows and has spoken at multiple conferences on the practical implementation of IFC workflows.

David Delgado Vendrell

David Delgado Vendrell, an architect by ETSAV (Polytechnic University of Catalonia), and CEO of DDV Arquitectura, micro-architecture office, and BIM consultancy. He is specialist in the use of the ArchiCAD platform, and his bet of methodological implementation in BIM is based on the use of open standards, also called openBIM.

He is an active member of the BIM User Group of Catalonia (GuBIMCat) and a partner of buildingSMART Spanish Chapter, to whom he also represents in the IUG (International User Group) of buildingSMART International. He also collaborates in the "We Build the Future" Commission of ITEC in Catalonia, in the representation of the CoAC, the national Architects Association. He has co-authored the BIM classification system "GuBIMclass," an initiative of GuBIMCat and Infraestructures de Catalunya. He is a beta-tester of the ITEC TCQ2000 4D-5D software as an expert in ArchiCAD and interoperability between both platforms. He has developed beta-testing tasks also for Graphisoft's BIMx tool and the Android system.

Michal Dengusiak

Michal achieved his Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering at Poznan University of Technology in Poland in 2006. He started his career with Arup, where he achieved his Chartership status with CIBSE and formed a strong grounding in the Built Environment. Currently working for BuroHappold in Berlin as senior engineer, Michal is responsible for leading energy simulation on a number of large projects and helping with MEP design work. He is passionate about creative new approaches to modelling and thermal simulation, adopting parametric design techniques and BIM workflows concentrating on calculations and thereby improving project efficiency. Outside of work, you might find Michal beekeeping, playing badminton, or programming.

My job focuses on 5 main tasks, Managing BIM process on projects, Conducting BIM Trainings and workshops, Communicating with technology developers for technology upgrading and keeping up with, BIM setup development inside the company for standards, workflows, R&D....etc., Fifth is the BIM support to project teams and managers besides troubleshooting on projects when required. Working in BIM projects as BIM specialist provided me skills, awareness and experience through different BIM uses and industry practice.

Cesar Escalante serves as Digital Design Technology Manager at HOK providing training, BIM implementation, and computation design support to the San Francisco and Seattle offices. He is a licensed Architect with 15 years of experience leveraging architecture and design tools as a practitioner, consultant and educator. Prior to HOK, Cesar worked for Flad Architects managing BIM workflows for large, technically complex, multimillion-dollar manufacturing projects and worked as a Senior Application Specialist for Ideate. He is passionate about computational design, digital prototyping, and a visual programming. César is a licensed architect, LEED accredited professional. He holds a dual Master degree in of Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Architecture from the Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas of El Salvador. He is the founder and coordinator of the San Francisco Dynamo User Group.

Simon Fiele


Simon is a Constructing Architect and BIM/VDC Process Specialist at COWI, a Danish based worldwide engineering company.
He is working with optimizing use of Revit with focus on MEP through standardization.
The last couple of years Simon has working with optimizing process and workflows to increase project efficiency.
Before COWI Simon has worked in Denmark's biggest Autodesk reseller company, where he also working with Revit implementation and workflow optimization.

Michael Fuchs

Michael likes to rethink common thought patterns. He enjoys walking into the unknown future, but keeps in mind that you also need practical solutions for todays work.
After his major in electronics he then studied architecture and civil engineering at Graz University of Technology. Focusing specifically on parametric design and digital fabrication.
Since 2016 he has been working for IB Lang GmbH in Graz where he has been responsible for the implementation of BIM and the adaptation of the working methodology it involves.

Radu Gidei


Radu likes to bill himself as a creative thinker, walking the fine line between unencumbered creativity and highly rational and analytical thinking. Also likes to wear many hats, amongst which: BIM manager at Grimshaw, coder, maker, BIM geek, musician, university lecturer at Canterbury School of Architecture and committee member for the UK Dynamo User Group. With a background in computer programming, followed up by an architectural education, it should come as no surprise Radu is constantly making and contributing to open-source applications for AEC, hacking together interactive models, learning new things or arguing on twitter about all things BIM.

As a Product Manager in the BIM-group at FARO, Udo focuses on customer success in the BIM-world with a strategic focus on software. He's responsible for a set of tools that help engineers capturing reality and bring this information into BIM-design software. Starting as a structural engineer in a design office two decades ago, Udo moved into the BIM-software sales business 10 years ago. Before joing FARO Udo has been a Product Manager in Autodesk’s BIM-group for more than 4 years and was responsible for structural steel detailing products like Advance steel and Steel connections for Revit.

Johan Hanegraaf is a Design Technology Specialist at Mecanoo architecten and combines his degrees in architecture, engineering and computer science to push the limits of today’s digital design tools. He is actively promoting, teaching and developing new workflows for emerging technologies. With his latest creation ArchiSpace, Johan tries to bridge the gap between computation and intuition by connecting BIM to a virtual reality design environment. As an architect he strongly believes that smarter digital tools will improve collaboration, enhance creativity and lead to a better built environment.

He is a Registered Architect and has worked on over 50 projects in the Aged Care, Education, Community and Sport and Recreation sectors. He also leads the Fulton Trotter Digital brand that assists in the briefing, specification and documentation and information management services for asset owners.

A highly regarded expert in using ARCHICAD and openBIM processes, Nathan has presented at over 30 events across Australia, North America and Europe. He is Stream Lead for BILT ANZ, Chair of BrisBIM, Chair of ACA QLD | NT / AIA QLD BIM Taskforce, and as a member for buildingSMART Australasia leading the presentation series for 2018. Nathan has also won the BIMshow Live, Rob Jackson openBIM award in 2018.

Eva Hörtnagl

At Build Informed Eva specialized on training and consulting structural engineering in Revit - reaching from reinforcement to specialized software interfaces. By acquiring the skill of fast and real accurate modelling, she now leads various complex BIM modeling tasks. Working as a project technician since 2007 at a renowned architects and engineers office she discovered her passion for BIM. Simultaneously she achieved a Master's degree in civil and environmental engineering at University Innsbruck in 2016.

Joseph Huang


Joseph Chuen-huei Huang is Principal Architect / BIM Practice Leader at Stantec. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in the AEC industry and has served as the BIM Manager for numerous large scale projects including the Panama Canal Third Set of Locks. His project experience ranges from vertical construction to large-scale infrastructure, where he has successfully integrated BIM into project design and construction phases. Besides that, he is the author of Participatory Design for Prefab House: Using Internet and Query Approach of Customizing Prefabricated Houses, and presents BIM-related topics regularly to universities and global industry groups at international conferences like AU, SAME, ACADIA, eCAADe, and CADDRIA. He is a licensed architect registered in Illinois, an AIA professional member, and holds a PhD degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Daniel Hurtubise


I am part of a BIM consultancy group named Data-Shapes. We work with high-end architectural design firms along with large engineering companies.
My job is to plan, support, train and guide parties involve in the BIM process. I work with tools, methodologies but most importantly with human beings.
I also happen to be one of the founder of the PRUG (Paris Revit User Group) and the DPUG (Dynamo Paris User Group). I’ve also been a repeated speaker at BILT and Autodesk University.

Margarida Jeronimo Barbosa


Margarida is a BIM manager for A-lab, an architectural company based in Oslo, Norway. Margarida is an architect with a master degree from the Architectural School of Lisbon, Portugal.
She expertized working as a reality capture specialist at the Beck Group, in Dallas (USA, Texas) and as an architect at Dark and Grape Architects, in Oslo (Norway); additionally she is a PhD candidate at the Lisbon Faculty of Architecture in Portugal. Ákos Karóczkai


Ákos Karóczkai is a BIM Consultant and Parametric Design expert at the Hungary based GRAPHISOFT, the developer of ARCHICAD.
He graduated from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics as an architect. Working at GRAPHISOFT for 4 years, first as Technical Support engineer, then as BIM Consultant he took part in the GRAPHISOFT - McNeel collaboration to connect ARCHICAD with the leading Parametric Design solutions, Rhino and Grasshopper. As a Parametric Design expert and BIM Consultant, he is responsible for trainings, creating demo materials and spreading new technologies at conferences and expos. Today Susanne works with the Sigma Estimates, the market leader of 5D platform Estimating. together with Magnus Therkildsen, With a Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Magnus has been working with BIM and VDC technologies within the construction industry for more than 10 years, and continues to teach and inspire others by pushing the limits of the current technology. Prior to that, she spent four years working on international projects in Belgrade, Serbia. She used to be the Executive Director for Construction and Reconstruction at DARS, the Motorway Company of Slovenia. For eight years she was a supervisor of the construction of bridges on the new coastal highway. She was awarded the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers' Award for Outstanding Achievements for her work on the supervision of the 1.060 m long Črni Kal viaduct, the largest in Slovenia. She was a founding member and is a vice-president of siBIM, the BIM Association of Slovenia, and is representing Slovenia as a member of EU BIM Task Group.

Angie Mendez


Angie is from Costa Rica but is based in Oslo. Back in 2007 she witnessed how BIM technology became a game changer in the building industry in Norway. After exploring diverse digital tools Revit became the weapon of choice. She then assumed the responsibility to secure the continuity and stability of the transformation process in her company and put her creativity to use to engage her colleagues and eventually those who collaborated with them.
After achieving a level of expertise, her duty extended to interdisciplinary coordination and consultancy for contractors.
The Norwegian construction magazine Byggaktuelt called her in 2012 Norway’s BIM ninja.
Since, she has been teaching lots of people from different fields and has been a speaker in several conferences in Norway and Sweden.
In 2017 she became associate partner in a-lab architects, position she uses to continue being an ambassador of new technologies.​

Jostein Olsen is a structural engineer working for Sweco in Norway. Here he has gathered 10 years of experience in the AEC industry working on everything from small scale industrial projects to large infrastructure projects. He has a wide experience with practical BIM workflows and has dug deep into the wonderful world of Dynamo, on which he has his own blog jbdynamo.blogspot.com. He is also a moderator on the official Dynamo forum and is a strong believer in the Dynamo Community. In 2010 he founded Pragmatic Praxis to provide web based Revit training, tools and support, and starting writing Px Tools to automate the install, customisation & management and eventual uninstall of various software. Ben Robinson


Ben Robinson is a computational Designer at Hawkins\Brown. Whilst working to achieve his RIBA accreditation, to become an architect, Ben splits his time between working on live design projects and for Hawkins\Brown’s Digital Studio as a computational designer. For both cases Ben looks to design new digital tools that utilise Revit and Revit API, Dynamo, Python and Grasshopper with a strong focus on workflow automation and productivity.

In 2017 Ben was the runner up in the Architects Journals Inspiring Graduate Prize for his work at Hawkins\Brown.

Martin Röck

Martin Röck is a junior scientist and doctoral candidate in the working group Sustainable Construction of Graz University of Technology. Prior to studying architecture, he specialized in building systems and energy design. Over the years, he has gained extensive work experience in BIM application and process development, provided lectures and trainings at different universities as well as BIM consulting in a number of Austrian architectural offices. In his master thesis he explored various aspects of sustainable construction by combining participatory design approaches and the implementation of environmental assessments in BIM-design processes. Continuing the path started during his time as guest researcher at ETH Zurich, Martin Röck is now focusing on the integration of sustainable construction and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into BIM-based design processes within a number of international research projects.

Ralph Schoch is the Revit, Technology, and Internal Support Manager in the Construction Piping Services Division (CPS) at Victaulic, a leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe-joining and fire protection systems. For 20 years he has been devoted to 3D piping system layout and design for global projects large and small. His interest in 3D modeling software led him to begin developing content for Revit in 2009. Ralph develops Revit families and add-in applications that allow engineers and contractors to design piping systems within Revit using Victaulic products. These families and tools have been used around the world from engineering to construction with full fabrication from the Revit model. Owen began his career as an architect at Oosterhuis Lenard where he designed and engineered complex shapes. During his studies, at TU Delft, he completed Virtual TU Delft. This was an online interactive 3D model of the TU Delft campus. At the department Hyperbody, faculty of architecture he did research on real-time BIM. Also, he was a teacher of Msc students at the faculty of architecture. From 2011 to 2016 he worked for Cepezed as an architect and BIM manager. Owen has worked on several projects. They include: CET multi-event centre in Budapest, Hungary; Student design for a CNC fabricated pavilion, Nanjing, China; Mockup for Protospace, research in building with CNC fabricated EPS; Regionaal Topklinisch Interventie Centrum Heerhugowaard for MCA hospital. Owen was editor of the bookzine iA#3: Emotive Styling. He engineered the design that was in the Revit 2010 splashscreen and was nominated for the Archiprix.

Jack Stewart


Jack Stewart is an ARB accredited Architect and leads the Digital Studio at Hawkins\Brown. Helping to lead the design and delivery of the Here East project, a 1.2 million square foot mixed use development, in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Jack embraced the opportunity to use the project as a vehicle for developing his expertise in emerging technology.

Recently he has moved into a full-time role leading the digital studio at Hawkins\Brown. Acting as a shared office resource Jack can offer support, where needed, across all projects. This includes offering focused scripting and coding expertise to help resolve design challenges and to also create tools that deliver more robust and efficient production information.

More broadly this involves looking at digital technology across the practice, exploring how it can innovate how we better practice architecture and more importantly; how we create better places.

Dan is an Author, Blogger, Educator, BIM Administrator and Wisconsin registered architect. He works full-time at LHB - a 250 person full-service design firm. At LHB Dan provides staff and client training and support on design software; Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and more. He is involved in professional lighting design and energy modelling workflow development. Additionally, Dan has helped implement the use of Virtual & Augmented Reality in the firm's practice - which has been used with staff, clients and at public events for architecture, civil and engineering projects.

Mark Thorley


Mark brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience to various stages of work in both the process and delivery of BIM. Mark's real passion however is computer science and its application in the field of Architecture and Construction. His skillset has led him to be one of the leaders in Computation and tools such as Dynamo. Over the past few years he has amassed a collection of processes that improve current workflows and save hours of time on repetitive work. As a fully qualified Architectural Technologist, Mark has worked in managerial BIM and Computational roles for the last 8 years for companies such as Aecom, Grimshaw and Spacezero, delivering iconic projects such as the the Al Wakrah Stadium Precinct, for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. Alberto Tono


Alberto Tono serves as Research and Development Intern at HOK. Prior to HOK, Alberto worked as a freelancer in Italy providing computational solutions for BIM workflow for large projects. During his study, he went to China to Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and to the Netherlands to Rene van Zuuk Architect. He also taught in a workshop hosted by the University of Rome. Additionally, he was the mentor for a group of students for an International Competition about Computational BIM design (3rd position). He is very keen on computational design and machine learning. Maarten van den Berg is a BIM and Information Manager at iNFRANEA with a masters degree in Construction Engineering & Management. Since 2009, he has been part of a BIM and Computational Design pioneer group in the RomaTre University under Professor Stefano Converso. Recently, he has had the the opportunity to work in different BIM roles in different world areas: from BIM researcher to BIM consultant up to BIM manager. This exposure has given him a thorough understanding of the BIM process for architectural offices. Nowadays, he spends most of his time helping designers improving efficiency and effectiveness in building design. Maarten Vroegindeweij is a structural engineer and founder of 3BM in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands. He worked for nearly 3 years as a BIM-manager and structural engineer at dJGA in Rotterdam(Large hospital projects). Maarten worked as a Revit consultant and trainer for several leading engineering companies.

Mark has been a licensed architect since 2006. He has worked as an architect and BIM Manager in several leading architectural firms. Mark has been responsible for the Information Management in several huge and complex design projects. One of those were the 60.000m2 Medical Centre Alkmaar, a few laboratoria, pilot plants and offices by Cepezed.

Mark has a vast track record in standardization processes. He is co-author of the Dutch Revit Standards, vice chairman for the Dutch Revit User Group and chairman of the Revit Standards foundation. As a VDC Director of BIM, Jay Zallan brings unique & qualified insights into the business & creative processes of Architecture, Engineering and Construction with proven strategies for production & growth. Mr. Zallan has well over 20 years of Architectural experience and enjoys a varied & diverse portfolio of both Architecture and Art. He is currently the President of the Los Angeles Revit Users Group, AUGIworld magazine Revit Architecture Editor, and he is a frequent lecturer on Creativity, BIM and Virtual Design & Construction and a former Graphic Standards BIM Advisory Board member. Jay can also be found presenting at Autodesk University, Revit Technology Conferences and as a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California, LACMA, as well as many Universities, AIA, CSI and other industry events.

Thomas started as a BIM project technician at Build Informed for various projects in the energy industry. He assists the demolition of a Nuclear Power Plant with a team of diverse professions in the management, validation and analysis of model data. Knowing the people by being on Site and knowing the process by creation of the model itself, he develops the tools to get the job done. Further passions of Thomas are Pointclouds and Dynamo. By combining these subjects, he established solutions to process and manage high-resolution point cloud data. In addition he also practices Dynamo for trainings, data processing and efficiency.
