Speaker Spotlight: Martin Romby Hauge

Friends,

This week we turn the spotlight back to Aarhus; for a talk with Martin Romby Hauge from Link Arkitektur.

  • Who are you and what you do (not just your title…what you really do!)?

My name is Martin Romby Hauge and I am the BIM Manager at LINK Arkitektur Denmark.

I hold a Bachelor degree in Architectural Technology and Construction Management, and find the use of technology and process optimisation in the AEC industry very interesting.
In my position as BIM Manager I am responsible for the use of BIM and with a dedicated team of highly specialised colleagues, I work to ensure the continued development of BIM.

Furthermore, I manage large scale healthcare projects in Denmark and do client consulting on various projects.

I am a board member for BIM Aarhus, which is a professional and social platform, aiming to provide members with new knowledge of VDC / BIM. BIM Aarhus have the honour of supporting BILT Europe coming to Aarhus in October 2017.

  • What’s interesting to you outside of work?

When I am off work I like to be active in the outdoor environment. I run marathons, ride my mountain and cyclocross bikes both for fun and racing. I also enjoy spending time with my family, friends and colleagues.

  • What is interesting about what you do (what motivates you at both work and play)?

The reason that I do what I do is the fact that the digitalisation area in the AEC industry is constantly changing and you must be ready for changes every day. For me, this makes a perfect day. The AEC industry can learn a lot from other industries – and we are just getting started. This motivates me every day.

  • What’s your session title and why is it important not only to you, but the broader AEC community?

The title of my BILT Europe 2017 session is, ‘Rethinking Organisational Change’, and focuses on how we make changes in a very tradition-based industry. This is something that challenges and motivates me everyday. It involves everyone around me and in the construction industry, which makes it so important to the broader AEC community.

The city of Aarhus is European Capital of Culture 2017 and one of their keywords is “Let’s Rethink”. This brought me to think, “Why not make the connection, and put Rethink into the title?”. Rethinking our organisation is essentially what we have done, since we decided to become market leaders, two years ago.

  • What do you enjoy most about BILT?

I like a lot of things about BILT. First and foremost, the fact that so many like-minded professionals gather from all around the world, is a big reason why I want to take part every year. The expertise of the attendees and speakers is overwhelming and you always leave on a high note – inspired and with new knowledge, connections, friendships and stories (both told and untold 😊).
