BIM Aarhus Invites You to their Open Door Event – A Unique Opportunity for BCS and BILT Attendees

It only took a couple of days to get 18 of Aarhus´s leading AEC firms to come together and sign in on the idea of an Open Door event in connection to the BCS & BILT Europe 2017 in Aarhus. We all see it as a unique opportunity to welcome the international BCS and BILT guests to our city.

The initiator is the network BIM Aarhus, with 500 members – it is a professional network focusing on BIM, Building Information Modelling. As a knowledgeable volunteer network, BIM Aarhus focuses on dialogue, interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration, all essential elements to meet the major and complex challenges we face in implementing and using BIM.

Aarhus is unique, with the location of many architectural, engineering and landscape architecture firms centered in the area around Aarhus River. Furthermore, two of the country’s largest contractors have premises and construction sites within walking distance of Radisson Blu Hotel.

With OPEN DOOR, BIM Aarhus invites BCS and BILT conference guests and citizens to visit Aarhus’s many talented consultants and contractors. 18 companies have come together to show how we in Aarhus working with BIM.

By OPEN DOOR we can offer a unique insight into how the city’s design and engineer studios as well as construction sites works with the many different aspects of BIM and advance technologies. New types of Co-operation, Open Formats, Virtual Reality, Sustainability and Simulation, all elements in a broad palette of opportunities, which forms the basis for design and construction in the building industry.

The tours are organized with 3 visits during 3 hours. A guide will meet you at the Radisson Blu hotel where the BILT conference is being held. In groups of 20 guests, you will visit 3 different offices within walking distance. At each office BIM experts / experienced staff will give a presentation of app. 30 min. and introduces you to the specific topic.

Example: Tour 2: Collaboration, you will visit 2 architects studios and 1 engineer office who will present the BIM collaboration of the hospital project NAU on 170.000m2. Because the offices are situated within walking distance you will have the chance to visit all 3 offices and see how we are organises and work in Aarhus.

Example: Tour 4: Construction sites – visit Contractor MT Højgaard building site on the harbour front and Contractor NCC building site on Frederiks Plads, and be introduced to how VDC and digital tools are used in the early design phases and during the construction phase to facilitate processes, communication and collaboration on site.
