Reach for the Stars – Transforming our Industry in a Digital World

As Global Lead for BIM and Digital Transformation, Alain Waha of BuroHappold Engineering (UK) has worked with some of the biggest names in engineering and architecture. Recent projects have included BatterSea PowerStation, Museum of the Future and Qatar World Cup Stadium.

Not only has Alain worked on amazing AEC projects around the world, he brings to his work a background in the aeronautics and automotive industries as well as a passion for innovation and transformation supporting start ups through his work in business incubation.  Check out his LinkedIn profile for all the various activities and enterprises he has been involved in – you’d think he was three people the amount he has achieved!

With all of these commitments and his busy travel schedule, we here at BILT are therefore honoured that Alain can make it to Adelaide to join us for this year’s BILT ANZ.  He will be presenting his session “Going Beyond BIM into a Digital Landscape” on Friday afternoon (Session 2.3).

In this presentation Alain questions “Does BIM deliver truly transformative outcomes; or are we simply achieving the same outcomes at a higher speed?” He posits that BIM and digitisation on their own are not transforming our industry but that transformation is possible by leveraging data and computational design.  Using specific project examples across design, construction and operation, Alain will show us how we can work towards transforming our firms and our industry.

We are sure Alain’s presentation will be one of the highlights of BILT ANZ, attracting interest from many of our delegates.  A great session to attend for some cross-disciplinary, silo-breaking transformative thinking!
