Where to Next?

What does Haigh’s chocolates, Barossa Valley, Tour Down Under and RTC ANZ 2017 (formally RTC Australasia) have in common? Adelaide of course! If you weren’t in the Hunter Valley last month, you would have missed the official announcement of where we are taking the RTC ANZ event next year. The answer is Adelaide, a little city nestled in South Australia.

Often referred to as ’the 20-minute city’ because getting around just isn’t a problem, this city is Australia’s home to great food, the arts and new ideas. Both Lonely Planet and The New York Times rated Adelaide in the top 10 places to see in 2015.

RTC ANZ 2017 will be taking place at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Situated on the banks of the River Torrens, this was the first purpose-built convention centre built in Australia. It is situated in close vicinity to hotels, entertainment, cultural and sport precinct. The railway station and a taxi ramp are just at its doorstep. In other words it is a very accessible city. Direct flights are available from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland, Hong Kong, Singapore and more!

We are sure you have heard of Adelaide’s New Royal Adelaide Hospital (nRAH) which has been named the third most expensive building in the world. It was designed by Silver Thomas Hanley in joint venture with DesignInc (STHDI), is listed by architectural data company Emporis as Australia’s most expensive project. At US $2.1 billion, the 11-storey hospital has beaten The Palazzo in Las Vegas and The Shard in London, both of which cost $1.9 billion, and Sydney’s $1 billion Chifley Tower, the only Australian project listed on the world’s top 10 most expensive skyscrapers list.

Constructed by Hansen Yuncken and Leighton Contractors (HYLCJV) and designed to admit more than 80,000 patients every year, the new RAH will be the largest capital investment project in the history of South Australia. This project is due to be completed at the end of 2016 and is located next door to the Adelaide Convention Centre.
