As our National BIM Manager, he is responsible for development, training and implementation to maximise dwp|suters’ BIM and Revit capabilities. Joe Banks

Scott Beazley

Scott Beazley is Mitchell Brandtman's dedicated 5D Digital Technologies Manager. Scott applies his knowledge of property set definitions, object classifications, IFC Schema compatibility, local metadata requirements and the creation of BIM objects to suit project requirements. His focus is on streamlining the practical process of coding and making the concept of model validation and round-tripping data a daily routine. More than four years ago this research pointed to the applicability of digital modelling to the whole lifecycle of buildings and the greatest possibility to integrate data at the earliest stages of design and development through to off-site fabrications and the operation and management of the building. Daniel Davis

Based out of New York, Daniel leads a team of researchers investigating the relationship between people and space. Using a range of computation and machine learning methods, his team are particularly interested in how workplaces can be designed to enhance people’s happiness, productivity, and connection to their community. Daniel originally trained as an architect in New Zealand and later did a PhD in computational design at RMIT University in Australia. Dominic Martens

Passionate about BIM content creation and content management best practices, Dominic currently works with UNIFI Labs as a Revit Content Specialist and BIM Technologist. In this role, Dominic works alongside a global team of highly skilled and experienced BIM content creators, project managers and technology specialists to help shape the future of BIM content creation and utilisation for both Building Product Manufacturers (BPMs) and AEC firms. With over 10 years’ Architectural / CAD / BIM experience, specialising in developing and managing BIM content, Dominic was most recently employed as the BIM Manager for John Wardle Architects (JWA) and was previously the Lead Content Creator and a Revit Mentor for Hassell’s global studio network.

Dan Morrison

Dan graduated from University of Queensland as a Mechanical Engineer in 1994, then worked in Brisbane for 2 years and spent three years in the UK, doing Mechanical Engineering and CAD Design. Returning in 2000, Dan joined AECOM and, after first using Revit in 2007, he played a leading role in the implementation of Revit and BIM throughout AECOM in Australia and New Zealand. In 2013 Dan moved to BPi as a VDC Engineer looking after VDC and BIM for the project. Dan has been a a committee member for WA Revit Users, BIMWest and Collaborate ANZ. He has presented at RTC Australiasia since 2011, as well as the inaugural RTC Asia, BIM Day Out and Construct15. He is also co-author of “Mastering Autodesk Revit MEP 2015”. Dan is now director of BIMTelligence, a BIM Technology company, offering BIM Management, Consulting, Training and Revit Modelling for MEP services.

Chris Needham

Chris is BIM Lead for southern Australia, as part of AECOM’s BIM Advisory team. He works closely with a range of building and infrastructure clients to leverage information to their advantage, during design, construction and operational phases of their facilities.

Chris’s responsibilities tend towards change management with a technical component. As such, much of his time is spent in writing documents, reviewing and aligning information between groups of information authors and consumers.

He has worked on projects in both Australia and the United Kingdom, using his expertise to develop systems and processes for numerous organisations. Over the last 12 years, he has helped firms understand and implement BIM methodologies, and is passionate about exploiting information management technology to its limits. He acknowledges that despite developments in technology, altering people's behaviour is the most crucial and often difficult part of change.

Chris Penn

Chris joined Norman Disney & Young as their Technical Director responsible for their Digital Built Environment Globally in December 2016, prior to this he was the BIM Manager on the $1.85BN new Royal Adelaide Hospital Project since June 2011. This project was the largest single building and the most technically advanced hospital in Australia, plus the first to implement a BIM strategy throughout the design, construction and as built stages.

Now with the NDY his main responsibility is to establish a consistent Digital Built Environment across the business and help to identify opportunities for automation. He will also be providing strategic advice to clients on BIM.

In 2012 Chris was invited onto the board of buildingSMART Australasia where he is now Deputy Chairman, he also represents the Construction Industry on the first Australasian BIM Advisory Board (ABAB) established by ACIF & APCC in November 2016.

Phil has 20 years in Architecture and Engineering including 12 years experience using and implementing Autodesk Revit: the world's only fully parametric and integrated tool for the design of buildings. Since 2009, Phil has been one of the driving forces behind M-SIX and VEO™ - the world’s first fully integrated, cloud-based platform for visualization, construction and operations of buildings. A frequent public speaker and has presented Autodesk University and RTC on topics ranging from "Best Practices and Large Project Management" to "Parametric Design Iteration in Architecture" and the "Business Dynamics of Transitioning from 2D CAD to Building Information Modeling".

Graham Allan

Graham is a Director and the Technical Manager of Structex, an engineering consultancy based in Christchurch NZ. He has been involved in civil and structural design since 1985, past chair, committee member and regular speaker for the South Island BIM group (BIMSiNZ), committee member for BIM in NZ and previous RTC speaker Graham has been 'playing' with Revit since 2007 and is instrumental in its implementation across the Structex group. When not trapped in front of his PC, he enjoys mountain biking, golf and getting run ragged by his two young boys.

Rod Bernard

Based in Brisbane, Australia, Rod Bernard is the Resource and CAD Manager of the Structures Team for AECOM's Civil Infrastructure business line. Rod was also the CAD Manager for the Gateway Upgrade Project, a $2.2 billion construction job which duplicated and upgraded the road bridge over the Brisbane River near Brisbane Airport. He has been involved with infrastructure design since 1988 and has seen the evolution from ink pens and drawing boards to CAD and is now part of the revolution to transform to Digital Engineering. Although he is new to Revit, he believes it will be a major player in the implementation of BIM in infrastructure.

Jaydn Bowe

Jaydn Bowe is an Architectural Graduate at Arkhefield, an architecture and interior design practice originating in Brisbane. Jaydn started out as a carpenter before pursuing a career in architecture. During his studies he taught himself Grasshopper and now teaches Parametric Design at the Queensland University of Technology and the University of Queensland. He has been practicing for two years in which time he has worked on projects of varying sectors and scales, from the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village on the Gold Coast, to the Brisbane Festival ‘Arcadia’ venue design.

Kristian Bursell

After 2 years of an Architecture degree I became immersed in the world of (ARCHI)CAD and the potential for automated results form virtual building models. In 2008, after 8 years in the industry, I started CADSWIFT and became a BIM implementation, management and process expert. I worked as an external BIM consultant for several major Architecture firms within Australia before eventually minimizing my implementation, training and support roles to focus on my true passion for intelligent BIM content for ARCHICAD. I have been regarded as one of the worlds foremost experts in ARCHICAD's content creation language - GDL - for some time now. I create the highest quality content for manufacturers products as well as highly intelligent and parametric content for architects. Close to 50% of my works is for clients outside of Australia. My main focus is complex content with all possible configuration options that can leverage external data.

Simon Byng

I currently work as a BIM leader for BlighTanner engineering in Brisbane, Australia. BlighTanner are a medium sized Structural and Civil Engineering firm. I have been a keen Revit user since 2006 and have previously been involved with Building Information Modelling implementation at several large Multi-National Engineering firms. I have attended the RTC Australasia conference since 2011 and in 2015 I received a runner up award in the RTC competition. I have spent the last few years working on high profile Gold Coast Commonwealth games venues.

My qualifications included a business degree with a major in Human Resources management, this has given me a keen interest in the human development and change management side Building Information Modelling.3

Russell and Yelland were early adopters of REVIT as a 3D documentation tool and Stewart has been responsible systems development and training of REVIT and BIM workflows for over 15 years. Mark Cronin is the design systems manager and an associate at Peddle Thorp Architects, based in Brisbane. He leads the integration of digital design tools with a primary objective of maximizing the efficiency of Building Information Modeling (BIM) within the company and extending this knowledge into the wider industry. Mark develops, implements, and manages design workflows, and is actively involved with several industry bodies contributing to the future of BIM in Australia. He is responsible for providing in-house training and best-practice solutions at Peddle Thorp, and is a regular speaker at industry conferences. Rebecca De Cicco

Rebecca lived in the UK for almost 10 years and following a series of successful senior roles in varied architectural organisations, Rebecca now manages her own consultancy, Digital Node, providing advice and insight to construction professionals all over the world on advanced digital solutions on projects as well as BIM implementation and management processes.
Rebecca works with Building Smart UK, sits on the Autodesk Developer Network and feedback community and supports the London BIM initiative within the BIM Regions that help support and grow an industry. She is also a strong advocate for diversity and young people (having been part of a future focused industry group, BIM2050) and also teaches, mentors and trains young people regarding future processes and BIM. David Foley

Lachlan Green

Lachlan Green is a registered Architect at Fulton Trotter Architects. Starting his career working in a small home office practice using 2D workflows he quickly realised the advantages of a BIM platform. Determined to achieve faster, easier and more accurate workflows, Lachlan began self-training in ArchiCAD. Step by step, each project was pushed further until all documentation was created in ArchiCAD with live sections, elevations and interactive door & window schedules. Seeking ways to further improve results Lachlan turned to GDL, the native programming language within ArchiCAD used to create parametric objects. In 2012, Lachlan joined Fulton Trotter Architects and under the leadership of Nathan Hildebrant, helped to dramatically overhaul documentation workflows. A key component was customised GDL labels used to display data extracted directly from the model. This has lead to increased accuracy and efficiency across both offices.

Wayne Grew

Wayne joined Northrop Engineers in 2014 as a senior structural draftsman and Group Manager on large multi-disciplinary projects. He has been involved in a variety of building projects including shopping centres, industrial buildings, residential buildings, railway stations and educational facilities. Lucy Guerin

Lucy started as a marine engineering officer in the Royal Australian Navy, a contract administrator and hull surveyor for yacht construction and then a procurement manager for major projects. She was the National Procurement Manager for JLL Project and Delivery Services where she was responsible for development, implementation and management of construction work programs and procurement strategies and was awarded a NAWIC merit award for Contribution to a Project for the Westpac Bank Now program in 2014. Anthony Hauck

Dominik Holzer

Dr. Dominik Holzer is one of the leading Design Technologists in Australia. Since 2009 Dr. Holzer has been running ‘AEC Connect’, as a multidisciplinary design-technology consultancy. There he focuses on Information Management across owners, contractors, consultants and manufacturers.

Next to his work in practice, Dr. Holzer teaches and researches as a Senior Lecturer in Digital Architecture at the University of Melbourne. Jon Mirtschin received his Bachelor of Engineering/Science from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He worked for Connell Wagner and Expedition Engineering (London) before starting Geometry Gym Pty Ltd. Geometry Gym develops BIM software tools specifically for Model Exchange using OpenBIM standards such as IFC. Tyrone has 15 years experience as a Civil Engineer and Digital Design Leader. He has developed extensive BIM project delivery expertise on some major projects around the world. Tyrone is an industry leader in BIM technology and has worked with consultants on projects throughout the Middle East, Asia, UK, Africa and Australia.

Tyrone was instrumental in transitioning companies in the early stages of BIM implementation from traditional CAD practices into BIM practices. He is highly experienced in developing BIM protocols and managing large design and construction teams by implementing technology and integrating traditional processes. He is a firm believer in Collaboration being the key factor towards BIM project implementation.

Keeley Pomeroy

Based in Christchurch, New Zealand Keeley is a 5D BIM and Innovation specialist. He has an integral role in the early discussions on numerous projects where BIM has been implemented and has been integral to the adoption of BIM in AECOM’s New Zealand Cost Management teams. Keeley provides ongoing support for the New Zealand BIM community including training, case studies and presentations. He is the current Chair of the NZIQS BIM Committee.

Chris Razzell

Chris Razzell joined dRofus in 2014 and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in BIM, Data Management and Project Delivery to the dRofus Leadership Team.

As Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region, his role is to develop the use of dRofus in the highly BIM savvy ANZ market and the emerging BIM landscape within Asia.

Prior to joining dRofus, Chris worked for several global design firms including HASSELL, HOK and Anshen+Allen (now Stantec). He’s passionate about bridging the divide between briefing, design, construction and operations - a philosophy shared by dRofus and within our software.

Outside of work, he is a BIM researcher with his articles published in the BIMFix Blog.
His articles are known for being highly detailed, referenced, and often challenge the status quo.
Brian is the only writer to date to publish detailed reviews on all the major Model Progression Specifications,
i.e. the AIA G202 Level of Development, The BIM Forum LOD Specification and Level of Definition
within the UK BIM Level 2 framework. He has worked in the Architectural and BIM consulting space
for over 18 years on projects in Europe, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Dhanjeet Sah

Dhanjeet Sah has 18 years of industry experience, mentoring industry professionals in adopting BIM/CAD/CG techniques to set up real-world production pipelines and workflows while integrating multiple applications for a specific task. He has also worked for numerous projects, including design, visualization, 3D animation/compositing, and CAD/BIM consulting for various multinationals and government organizations.

Working as a BIM Manager at PTW Architect, his main role is to provide BIM implementation, consulting and training for internal staffs to develop workflows that achieve higher levels of collaboration and efficient design through the use of Revit, AutoCAD, 3ds Max and other applications/technologies.
He is also an AutoCAD, Revit Architecture, and 3ds Max software (since 3ds Max software 4) Certified Professional/Instructor from Autodesk, Inc. Chad Smith

Chad has nearly 20 years’ experience in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, specialising in design, BIM management, and business integration solutions.

As a Virtual Design & Construct (VDC) evangelist he has helped businesses across Australia and New Zealand implement and optimise their use of design technologies. Treating every engagement as a partnership allows Chad to intimately understand business requirements in order to articulate a custom solution.

Chad draws upon past experiences at top design and construct companies Mirvac, and Spaceframe Buildings. He is an advocate of cloud computing, and in his spare time researches new design technologies and follows emerging trends.

David Spehar

David has over 24 years of industry experience and is a registered architect since 1994. He was an early adopter of Revit and has been a BIM advocate since 2003. David is currently a leader in Stantec’s Digital Practice team overseeing the firm-wide practice integration of design technologies through training and education, developing standards and best practices, providing project management support, developing multi-discipline BIM collaboration strategies, and implementing new workflows to leverage the intelligence of BIM. He is a leader in helping Stantec transition from a document based design process to an intelligent model based design process. In addition to his experience as a BIM implementer, David has a strong background in architectural project management. He was a project manager for over 12 years before shifting his focus to implementing BIM. David prides himself on client satisfaction both when working on projects as well as assisting Stantec offices internally.

Ian Stewart is BSA's Project Director for the delivery of the Tier One Mechanical Services Subcontract at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital project, Australia's first fully integrated 6D BIM Project. Ian has over 30 years experience in the design and delivery of complex MEP solutions globally and is a strong advocate for the use of innovative technologies in the built environment. Prior to joining BSA, Ian held Executive Director and Strategic Development positions at Dalkia Technical Services and Trane. Ian is a Bachelor graduate of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in Building Services Engineering.

Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor has over 27 years of experience working for companies that develop architectural and engineering software solutions such as Intergraph, Bentley, and Autodesk. He has over 16 years of Revit experience, and was part of the original development of Revit while at Revit Technology Corporation. He worked 12 years at Autodesk where he presented, taught, and worked to improve features in Revit. Richard holds both a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and Masters of Architecture from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Richard is currently a Technical Evangelist for Ideate Software Solutions and continues to work with AEC clients worldwide, developing, and consulting on BIM solutions. In his spare time, he is active in his local community and is an elected member of the local Planning Board where he evaluates new developments, regional planning, and design criteria.

Shannon Thomas

Shannon Thomas is the executive manager for Australia’s national BIM-MEPAUS initiative run through the AMCA (Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors' Association).

Shannon has a Bachelor of Engineering (Industrial Engineering & Engineering Management) with Honours from Monash University and recently completed postgraduate studies in Design Science (Building Services) from the University of Sydney.

With wide ranging professional experience in a number of roles within the automotive industry, Shannon has a particular interest in using his knowledge in HVAC Design, Project Engineering, Continuous Improvement and Lean Production to help guide the implementation and successful adoption of the national BIM-MEPAUS initiative within the Construction industry’s exciting and evolving BIM space.

Melanie Tristram

Melanie is the National BIM Manager for Jasmax, with 20 years of experience in the industry. She has worked extensively with Revit since Jasmax adopted BIM in 2005 and was integral in the introduction of Revit in the practice. Melanie lists implementing office standards and protocols across Jasmax’s 200-strong practice as one of her many achievements. Her passion for developing systems and protocols to enhance the delivery of projects has aided the increased efficiency of BIM across the practice, and further extended her own knowledge into the industry. Based on her experiences and extensive BIM knowledge, Melanie has seen that the New Zealand construction industry can benefit significantly from the adoption of working in a collaborative BIM environment.
Melanie is the Chairperson for the Auckland BIM User Group. Melanie was also a contributor towards the development of the ANZRS (Australian New Zealand Revit Standards) and the NZ BIM Handbook.

Alain Waha

Alain holds the role of Global Lead for BIM and Digital Transformation at BuroHappold Engineering, alongside advisory positions with COGITAL and in digital start-ups. His career started in Aerospace and Automotive, deploying new business models and information systems. Alain came to the construction industry in 2008 as CEO of Atlas industries, then CEO and founder of 2 BIM Services start-up. This gives him experience of Digital Transformation in both Automotive and the AEC industry. His work in AEC includes VDC in the Middle-East, Scan to BIM and Design project in Europe, and Supply Chain enablement in the United States.

Tim Waldock

Tim Waldock has been using Revit since 2005, and is now a freelance Revit consultant after being Technology Integration Manager at PTW Architects from 2006-14. He has worked with numerous other BIM and 3D CAD programs over the past 30 years in the UK, Singapore and Australia, often working closely with the software developers. He has attended all but three international RTC events, and has presented at 15 RTCs in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, The Netherlands, Singapore and Hungary. He has attended two Revit Gunslinger events at the Revit headquarters in the USA. He has been on the committee of the Revit User Group Sydney (RUGS) for 8 years and was Chairman in 2014 - 15. He writes the technical Revit blog called “RevitCat”. He is a ‘Green Star accredited professional’ (2007-2015) architect (Australian Equivalent of LEED)

Michael Warwick

Having served as BIM Manager and BIM Coordinator in Architect's, Building Services and Structural Engineer's offices on commercial, institutional and multi-unit residential projects Michael has a depth of cross disciplinary experience. Michael is currently co-chair of the Wellington BIM and Revit groups (BIM.well and RUGwell) and working with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) BIM Acceleration Committee to increase and improve the productivity of the construction industry through BIM education and knowledge sharing.

Paul Wintour

Paul Wintour is a UK Registered Architect based in Sydney, Australia. He is the founder of ParametricMonkey.com, a research and learning website dedicated to accelerating the computational literacy within architectural design. Paul holds a post graduate Masters of Architecture and Urbanism from the Architectural Association’s Design Research Laboratory (AADRL). He has taught at University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the University of New South Wales (UNSW), the University of Hong Kong (HKU), Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the Architectural Association (AA). He has worked extensively in Australia, The Netherlands, the UK and Hong Kong. Paul was previously the BuildingSMART manager for HOK's Asia Pacific offices where he specialised in the interface between conceptual parametric modelling and project delivery. Currently, Paul is a Senior Associate at BVN where he provides BIM implementation and design technology services to project teams.
