Introduction

Keynote Address: The Digitalisation of the Building Industry, a Paradigm Shift of Massive Proportions
8:50 am - 9:20 am
Stefan Larsson, CEO & Founder, BIMobject

Speaker: Stefan Larsson
Proudly sponsored by BIMobject.com

The digital revolution is having a huge impact on the construction industry. BIM (Building Information Modelling is a set of processes, software and new ways of working – with the key goal being to communicate and use information in a better way.

The need for manufacturers’ information in the BIM process is vital. BIM allows for calculations, simulations, visualisations and management of information, throughout the entire life-cycle of a building - therefore the right properties and their values, describing real life products and materials are crucial.
In a global market where decisions made on which products and materials to choose, are not just based on real world values, but on how easy it is for designers and engineers to integrate and access the digital information.

To be specified, you need to have a digital replica of your products and materials integrated into the BIM process.

Introducing the Perspective & Rebuttal Session

Speaker: Wesley Benn

Perspective Manufacturer: Easiest to Use and Most Accurate Piping Systems in Revit
9:35 am - 10:10 am
Ramon Hoogerbeets, Wavin

Speaker: Ramon Hoogerbeets, Wavin

An overview of how Wavin, the largest plastic pipe manufacturer in Europe, has been able to develop the easiest to use Revit packages to arrive at the most accurate installation model of a piping system resulting in the highest potential savings in pipe work in a BIM project.

Perspective Service Providers/ Content Creators: Getting the Content 'Right'
10:40 am - 11:20 am
Tore Hvidegaard, 3d byggeri

Speaker: Tore Hvidegaard, 3d byggeri

What is the 'right' way to create content, and for who? Which groups should you aim for, and what are their needs? Is it possible to make one solution that fits all, and will some people demand one thing but use another, leaving all your work as worthless?

12:00 pm - 12:35 pm
Alexander Hoos, Kuijpers

Speaker: Alexander Hoos, Kuijpers/ Uneto-VNI BIM Expertgroup (MEP branche organisation NL)

There are many different practical user stories and BIM uses and a lot of commercial golden stories about BIM. The people who does the actual BIM workload and have the practical expertise, often does not identify themselves with this golden story and are struggling with many important topics. I will address these issues from the Dutch BIM market and will explain the practical challenges within BIM projects.

BCS Live: The Gameshow
7:30 pm - 8:15 pm
Hosts: Marcus Fich & Jose Fandos

The Building Content Summit brings together seasoned veterans and BIM rookies – all bringing with them a burning desire to shape the future of the digital design and construction industry. It is also a day were close bonds will be forged across disciplines in the Building Lifecycle. And what better way to strengthen those bonds than with a fierce competition on wits (we are a peaceful bunch, so we’ll fight with brains and not brawns). As the night skies settle over Porto, participants are invited to join us for our very own gameshow; BCS Live – a trivia on all things ,remotely, connected to the world of BIM (or just falling into the category of ‘cool stuff’).

Teams and individuals will fight, not just for honor, but for glorious prizes. The questions start at LOD 100 such as ‘What is the environment that Revit families are built in called?– but only the best will make it all the way to LOD 500 – and in order not to spoil here is a LOD 450 question Upon completion in 1884, what became the world’s tallest structure for 5 years until the completion of the Eiffel tower?’

It’s a great way to make friends and experience each other in a fun and loose atmosphere. And yes, there will be drinks – it’s a trivia night after all!
